Gives Me Hope

http://www.givesmehope.com/ is one of my all time favorite sites. It's inspirational and gives me a pick up on days that aren't so awesome. And it's always nice to feel hopeful about the direction of humanity. This one I found today is one of my favorites, ever. Whoever posted this is beautiful.

You know what I've noticed about GMH? No one ever posts "I Give ME Hope".

This post will be different because, today i confronted my mother and make her realize that she can't call me something i'm not.

Mom, I'm not stupid, I'm not fat, I'm not ugly and i hope someday you'll realize inner beauty matters. I GMH.

Editor's note: You definitely give me hope.

Fashion Shopping List

Sometimes, I am just lacking basic fashionable pieces that I need. So I've made a list, like a grocery list, of all that I'm have need (or desire) of.

Item One: Lace Tights with cool designs to throw on under skirts or dresses in place of leggings
(Frenchi Dot Tights and  Frenchi Lace Tights)

Item Two: A basic black belt to accentuate my waist, since I'm small and often get lost in baggy clothing
(BP Studded Oval Buckle Elastic Black Belt)

Item Three: Jeggings, could there be a better combo than jeans with leggings? I think not.
(Vigoss Denim Leggings and Jolt 'Pick Me Up' Stretch Denim Leggings)

Item Four: A cute wallet. I actually have no wallet at all...whenever I go to buy one i think how after I get it I'll have no money to put in it! But the time has come.
(Juicy Couture Scotty Bling Small French Wallet and Coach Madison Dotted OPArt Medium Wallet)

Item Five: Black Flats. They go with a lot, and I personally love flats. Theyre cute.
(Maria Sharapova by Cole Haan 'Air Bacara' Flat and Killah 'Andreas' Flat)

Comfy Comfy Cozy

Latlely the weather has turned windy, cold, and rainy. In dreary weather I want nothing more than to curl up in a blanket and pajamas, however, I legally am required to attend school. So rather than have every day be pajama day or wear sweats every single day, I have decided to search for comfy, loose sweaters I can adorn myself in this winter.
A couple of these will be wonderfully cozy just thrown over a pair of leggings:)
Nordstroms of course, came through for me once again.
Top Left: Absolutley Cotton Dolman Sleeve Sweater
Top Right: Love by Military Cardigan
Bottom Left: Frenchi Pointelle Tunic
Bottom Right: Frenchi Sweater

The Homecoming Frenzy!

Tonight is my school's Homecoming, and I for one, am so glad to get it over with. Don't get me wrong, I love getting dressed up, having a night out with friends and dates (if you have them) and dancing the night away. It's just very stressful! Homecoming at my school is a huge deal, and that means a lot of time, energy and effort that I really couldn't afford this year. So instead of stressing over a huge group, I'm going with two of my best friends in our own little group. We'll still see everyone at the dance, but with everything I'm doing (all advanced classes, tennis, violin, Young Life, etc) I really didn't have time to worry about a big group. I did a big group last year, and while it was fun, I'm excited for our low key group tonight. I'm really behind in the whole thing, I'm actually shoe shopping and jewelry shopping in an hour, but the night should be fun and a nice stress relief from everything I've got going on. I'll post pictures tomorrow, and hopefully my shoes (I'm considering Steve Madden pumps) will be easy and quick to find!
Here's what I wore last year, and my big group:

(Most of the group, minus a few girls who were late and a couple girls' dates)

Quote of the day

Know when someone says something that just strikes you, and resonates with your life? Well today was one of those days, in first period actually with my history teacher, who gets off topic, a lot.

"Thoughts disentangle themselves passing through lips and pencil tips."

Not sure where he got this, but I absolutley love it.

Jersey Day (No, not Snooki)

This week is Homecoming spirit week at my school, and today was Jersey day. (Not as in Jersey Shore.) I don't actually own any Jersey's but lucky for me, my Young Life leader, Kara, being in college, does. My best friend Jessie and I called her up and she dropped off two Jerseys for us. Theyre surprisingly comfortable and flattering. I may have to go buy one of my own!

Facebook gets a person thinkin'

A friend's facebook status tonight was  "I want to know everyone's perspective on what love is. Whether it's cynical or positive or anything in between. Tell me what you think?"
I don't know her super well, (though I secretly look up to her because she's an amazing writer and person) and never before have I commented on her status, but tonight I was convicted to do so. I'd recently had trouble with one of my Young Life leader Kara, who's my favorite person in the world,  and whom I love very much and started thinking along the lines of our relationship. Here's what I wrote:
Well i'm not entirely sure about love as in like, dating love but at least family and friend love is when you care for someone else's heart entirely and totally. you are willing to make sacrifices for them and their best interest comes before yours at times. When theyre hurt, your heart breaks. You understand them enough that even when they mess up, you see their intentions and pain behind it. Their is no part of them you would change, because even their 'flaws' are a beautiful part of who they are.You trust them unconditionally and you bring out the best in them. You always forgive them and want to be the first person to help them up when they fall. When you love someone, they take up permanent residence in your heart.
That's my opinion. I think it's a good thing for everyone to contemplate.

Boot Twinsies

Yesterday one of my friends from out of town was visiting and I got the opportunity to go shopping with her. We hit up some of her favorite stores (and mine too), Urban Outfitters and Nordstroms. I recently found an ankle boot that I'm in love with at Nordstrom and while looking for it to show her, she found a boot she loved too. Ironically, it was the very same one I've been planning on ordering. Now we're gonna have matching boots, just in different cities. It's really cute and really comfy. I can alwasy count on Nordy's to supply me with the best!

SEGA

This year I joined a club started by one of my friends, called SEGA. SEGA stands for Secondary Education for Girls Advancement. It is a program that funds and builds schools in Tanzania. Many of the girls have lost one or both parents, have had children, are forced into early adulthood, and all of them are extremely poor. This school provides scholarships and funds. Tomorrow we are having a bakesale to raise money. I made some delicious Lemon Bars, and can't wait to see how much money we raise.

Say Yes to the Dress

Though I am many, many, many years from getting married, I am an admitted addict of the TLC show 'Say Yes to the Dress'. If you haven't seen it, it shows brides picking out bridal dresses at a giant bridal store in New York called Kleinfelds. Now for you other addicts, you'll know that the designer Pnina Tornai is consistently featured on the show, and I for one, am in love with her work. Here are some of her latest styles that have captured my heart.

Put A Ring On It

For my birthday I received many beautiful nice gifts, including some I am still recieving due to forgetful relatives. However, one that stood out was this Juicy Couture "Flights of Fancy" Pink Flower Adjustable Ring my parents got me. This is from the spring collection of 2010 and I'd had my eye on this for ages. When I opened it, I definitley came close to tears. I have had an obsession with jewelry as of late, particularly rings.
Here are some others I've got my eye on:

Betsey Johnson "Under the Sea" ring

Juicy Couture "Rose Cluster" Ring

Juicy Couture "Paved Bow" Ring

Bows Bows Bows

While out shopping on Pearl Street with some friends, I came across this adorable hat in Urban Outfitters. It looked slightly eccentric on the shelf, but once I tried it on I found it to be cute, sheek, slightly parisian and also very warm. I will definitley be getting a lot of wear out of this item these upcoming seasons.
Here are some other bow items I found perfect for this season:
Cesca Bow Crossbody Bag
Poetic License "Backlash" Oxford Pump
Ted Baker Applique Sweater

Spread your wings

This Monarch butterfly dress by Luly Yang caught my eye the other day, and I fell in love. It's definitley a little out there, not to mention I can't even begin to fathom where I would wear this item, but it's intrigueing, sophisticated and clearly worth mentioning.

A Little Something about Me

Hey there, my name is Leah

Remember those “about me” projects you did back in elementary school? Well, thats sort of like what this is. I’m from a family of six, my mom, dad, two sisters, and brother. We also have a dog named Ginger.
I live in Colorado, and I am a sophomore. I play violin, tennis, and am in Young Life.

Me and one of my little sisters

Maybe youre wondering why I started this blog. Well, partially I dont want to do my history essay. But also, I love fashion and writing. My Young Life Leader Carlee suggested I start one a while ago, but I am sorta shy. So I’m not telling anyone about this blog yet. I guess we’ll see how it goes?
Carlee with my little brother
As for the name, one of my best friends, Jessie and I always plan what we’re wearing the night before. One day I started calling her the Fashion Guru. And she started calling me Young Gucci Purse. So there you have it.
