5 Things (But Really Six)

Hello all! Sorry to have been so absent the last week. I just finished up my finals and was overwhelmed with work so I didn't get a chance to post:( but I'm done! Hurrah! So to celebrate the good things of the last month of school and welcome new good things to come this summer, here are my five things:
1. My manicure with my wonderful YL leader Kara before she left. I love the pretty pink pastel color and manicures always make me feel super glamorous!
2. I got a blackberry!  I had a really old phone for many years and my mom and I both got new smart phones. I'm so in love with it!
3. New sunglasses-finally since mine broke ages ago-from Anthropologie that I love for their vintage vibe and unique shape.
 4. A bracelet from my dear friend Alie from Seattle-super cute and earthy for summer.
 5. Classy new Papyrus stationary to write letters to my friends who are across the state and country.
Hope everyone's enjoying the start of summer!
May the Prada be with you

5 Things

It's been a little while since I made one of these, so I figured why not, as my camera is currently not usable...however fear not, my wonderful photographer said we can work with hers until my technological issues are resolved. I will also take this time to mention I'm currently saving for a new, much nicer camera, and I'm excited about that. Without further adieu, here are five things that have made me happy in the last week:
1. My very first basketball game, where the Nuggets played the Golden State Warriors and won. It was really cool and I was exponentially more upset I didn't have a working camera. I went with my wonderful young life leader Kara, whom I had bought the tickets for as Christmas gift. We first hit up Lime in Denver for dinner and it was absolutely scrumpcious. Then with our 1st row of club level tickets we watched the game and it fabulous.

from the Denver Post
2. My new bag from American Eagle, and how it has a nautical feel remniscant of summer and the beach. It's also a lot bigger than anything else I own so it's made trips where I need more items much easier.
 3. This beautiful get well card made for me by my lovely photographer as I missed school Friday and have carried on a dastardly cold ever since. It has real  dried flowers and is sitting proudly on my shelves with all my other favorite knick knacks and memorabilia.
 4. Taylor Swift tickets! Denver in September and me, my little sisters, and friends have them! I cannot wait! I've never been to an actual concert, and I'm more than pleased that hers will be my first!
5. This video is absolutely wonderful. I found it hilarious and it easily brightened my day. I hope you enjoy it as well:
I hope everyone's week has been pleasant and that there are more pleasantries to come. Keep it classy.

Five Things (Sixxx)

Hello all! Look at who's being consistant with the camera! This week was long, very very long. I had 8 tests total throughout the week, 2 tennis matches, and only 4 hours of sleep Thursday night. But I made it! And now it's Spring Break! Which means I'll have time to clean my disaster of a room, come up with some new designs, catch up on all my favorite blogs, and have time to eat sleep and breathe! But here were the things that got me through the past seven days:
1. This coca-cola cap necklace I finally got around to making. The cap has been sitting on my desk since June, awaiting the day I would finally put it on a string. The reason? There is a darling pizza place at my mall where they have big, and tasty slices of pizza and coca-cola in glass bottles. All summer my best friend and I would venture over to beat the heat with a cool glass bottle of beverage and some pizza. We decided we should make necklaces out of our memories, and here it is!
 2. These beautiful daffodils blooming. I've loved these flowers since I was little because my mom had framed some pages out of her childhood flower poem book and one of them was daffodils. I'm tempted to find those picture frames again adn hang them on my wall for a spring and vintage feel.
 3. Girlscout cookies!! I love them-who doesn't? And no little girls came to our door this year, but I found some being sold at school and Walmart and picked up a couple of my favorites. My ultimate favorite is the peanutbutter ones-the Tagalongs!
 4. I found this in one of my school's bathroom stalls and thought it was so touching and true. Whoever did this is wonderful and certainly made my day!
 5. This big blue beautiful sky, clear and signifying the amazing and warm weather we've been blessed with! There is no sky bluer than Colorado's.
6. People can be wonderful and uplifting! And also thanks to the peole who were understanding of my less than pleasant mood Friday from the stress and sleep deprivation. Hopefully that will not be a recurring theme.
I hope everyone's enjoying break or hanging in there till theirs starts!

5 Things, (But Really 6)

Look who's being better about toting her camera! That's right, it took less than three weeks for a new five things! (Btw, I finished the CSAPS! Forever! Yayyy! I never have to take them again!)
1. I made brownies all by myself without burning them or the house, and I even remembered to turn off the oven when I was done. Just in case you did not know, I am a terrible cook.
2. Going shopping at Urban Outfitters with a couple fun people, such as Mr. Isaac here, who was dragged along. I got some great new stuff that will be featured soon and by that I mean Friday so don't forget to check it out!
3. My new nail polish, (from Urban) that is a pleasant purple and grey combination that I've been searching for all winter. In case you'd like to buy it it's only five dollars and the color name is Nude 4.
3. This delicious pasta with shrimp at Cheese Cake Factory. The lunch portion was perfect for three people to share.
5. Getting to spend the entire weekend with this lovely person while both my parents and my siblings were out of town skiing. I didn't get to go because I was not able to skip school and tennis practice, but I definitely didn't mind getting to go out for meals and watch lots of movies and Friday Night Lights with one of my very favorite people.
Kara driving the Durango
6. People are quite pleasant, particularly when they comment on your posts! (The comments have been much appreciated:)) I also like people in argyle. Just saying.
Hope everyone else had joy similar to that of finishing craptastic annual tests for the rest of their lives!

Five Things (But Really Six)

I am aware I have not been particularly punctual with my list of five things, and this is partially because I often times don't have my camera with me 24/7 and prefer not to throw things together with crappy pictures or lacking pictures altogether. If I post something, I like to do it to the fullest potential. That being said, I am going to do my best to start having my camera on me and doing the five things more regularly. That being said, the last couple weeks have also been a tad bit stressful and rough, causing less time for blogging and picture taking. However, here are a few things that brightened my week:
1. A summery treat on a not so summery day.
fresh strawberries with powdered sugar
 2. A new way to style my hair thats easy, cute and fresh. Plus it gives a sort of southern belle look.
the first layer of hot rollers.
I really enjoy curling my hair, especially now that its so long that straightening it isn't as appealing because its just long and flat without texture. However using a curling iron takes forever, and I get antsy standing there holding it to my head and feeling immobile when there are so many other things besides my hair that must get done. Hot rollers have been the perfect solution, allowing me to run around while my hair is being styled. I also like that it comes out less in ringlets and more in big volumous curls.
the finished product of hot rollers
 3. Making some delicious and creative cupcakes.

animal cupcakes: sheep, pig, dog, bear, cat and frog.

my lovely friend (also the photgrapher for the ensemble shoots)
 4. A gift from a friend that eases my nights.
Over the last couple months I started having nightmares, which are not a great deal of fun. Though skeptical at first, I was convinced that this would do the trick. And it's cute wall decor.
my cute dreamcatcher hanging above my bed
 5. Sunblock, because yes, apparently you can get a sunburn in February.
 6. I do enjoy people, and I am excited to some people tonight at the academy awards! So excited for the walk down the red carpet. Glamour glamour glamour!
Hope all your weeks are off to a good start!

Five Things (but really six)

I didn't do one of these last week so this includes some stuff from then, but I couldnt post because I was sick a majority of last week and so it was hard to take lots of pictures of my five things. However, here we go:
1. I have a country hall of fame calendar, and February just so happens to be Miranda Lambert. I'm feeling like this month will be a good one.
 2. Last week we got two snow days in a row, mostly for cold weather. I love how it looks when it snows.
 3. My friend from out of town visited this weekend and we got some delicious (identical) lunches during our shopping trip.
 4. One morning of the days off we had, my mom bought this delectable treat, a sweet orange roll. If you've never had them, they're amazing, and so simple I can even make them.
 5. My dog has an argyle sweater vest (look at the top of her sweater). She keeps it classsy.
6. People can be quite enjoyable, particularly if you haven't gotten to see them for a while.:)
Hope you've all had at least mediocre Wednesdays (it was discussed and decided its the worst day of the week amongst my friends) and that you buy your dogs classy argyle sweaters.

5 things (but really 6)

This week was another hectic one both in terms of school and after school activities, but it was filled with many wonderful things, people and events.
1. I finished my National History Day project! Those of you who have not been put through this torture mechanism, it is a gigantic essay about history. It took forever. Like three months forever. And is worth half my history grade. And I am done!
 2. Hours spent in the card store with my mom laughing at these hilarious little jokes. We bought in bulk...like somewhere around $30 worth of cards. They were just so hilarious we had to buy them!
 3. The tapestry my sister let me use, as it was originally hers but ended up in the basement. It's like my blue one (you can see it above my computer) and I like to drape it across my mirror to create a sort of sanctuary to study, design and be creative.
 4. My fashion binder. Originally bought for history-but quickly turned into something not at all academic, like most of my journals-it now holds my sketches, final drafts and other inspirational pieces. My mom has also now been supporting the fashion idea and looking into colleges with fashion majors.
 5. Walmart adventures and bracelets! Because studying for math tests is no fun, we took a detour to Walmart where we found bracelets with phrases including: Unfriended, Adored (the one I got), Put a ring on it (the one my friend got) and I <3 not you (the one my other friend got). Besides, who doesn't love running around Walmart?
6. I like people such as my dear friends who go on Walmart adventures with me.
Happy Wednesday again!

Five Things (but really Six)

This week has been...a lot. Three extremely important papers due and not very much sleep. However there were many wonderful little instances that brightened my days and here they are:
1. Snow! I cannot adequately express my obscene infatuation with snow. And this was not just any snow, it was the snow that draws me to the window and is painful to look away from. The flakes were large fluffy, and it was just windy enough that the flakes swirl round and round, drifting to and fro, reflecting all the light that seems improbable to be there with all the clouds. Even better it was just warm enough to venture outside, if only for a moment to take a picture. It left that anticipation of trying not to wish so hard for a snow day that you're sorely dissapointed, but unable to dim that little flicker that maybe, just maybe, you will get to sleep in, admiring the wintery scenery late into the morning with a mug of hot cocoa and your favorite beat up copy of Gone with the Wind.
2. My brand new journal. For quite some time I have been meaning to purchase a new journal, and I finally  made it to Borders and began browsing the journal selection. I am quite particular about my journals. Everything has to be exactly the way I like it; a difficult find. The silver designs and shiny cover attracted me instantly, because it reminded me of a new start, like this year. It included all my necessary amenities: page marker, leather bound cover, thin lines, and enough pages to last me more than two weeks. Though a more costly than usual, (it was made in Italy) it was well worth  it and is being put to good use.
3. My friend's mother found this book and while seemingly pessimistic and deppressing, it is absolutely hilarious, resulting in the three of us (me, friend, friends mom) to fall over laughing each time we turned the page. My favorite: I hate clotheslines. I hate that you can't see them in the dark. I hate outdoor motion lights.

 4. To my great relief I finally found a new tennis coach (as my previous one first got hip surgery in December and then left for Chile for a year once he finally healed). While initially extremely concerned that after a month without playing, I would be back at square one and have no hope of improving before tennis team tryouts, my qualms were relieved. I have gained back all my previous ability and, dare I say, possibly improved? I am very pleased and now stylish while playing as I gained a brand new tennis wardrobe.
Age 3: my first tennis lesson with daddy. Even then I liked to strike a pose.
5. Monday morning, blessed with the absence of school thanks to Mr King Jr, some friends, our young life leaders and I met for brunch at Ihop. Of course for this event, I dressed up in my sweater dress, revelling in an opportunity to have fun playing around with my new clothes. Clothes are to me as a new toy is to a four year old.

6. People are pretty great-like the ones who go to IHOP with you. Those are the keepers.
The week is half over! Happy Wednesday all!

5 things (but really 6)

This is much delayed with all the camera misplacement and hectic homework schedules, but here are my five things from the last week or so:
Dogsitting these two lovely puppies. They're super friendly and love cuddling. Besides, who wouldn't want to get paid for playing with dogs and watching tv all weekend?

Sadie and Max
A warm cup of hot cocoa during our recent snow stoms. Only a few inches but more than we received in the last four months!
Marshmellows make all the difference
Seeing country strong after a yummy Panera dinner with my young life leader Kara! The movie is a little depressing but the music was great and Gwyneth Paltrow was excellent. Not to mention how much I enjoyed spending time with one of my favorite people after not seeing her for a month.

Building a giant dominoes course with my little sister. She got hundreds of them for Xmas and we've been making good use of them!
Of course, my hair appointment makes the list! I absolutley love getting pampered at the hair salon, where the go all out giving you sodas and magazines and temple massages while washing your hair. I get a few minor highlights like usual and my stylist, Connie is always nice enough to take the time to blow out or straighten my hair. I chose to straighten it and she did a great job as usual.
{Connie Diaz from Fringe Hair Salon}

6. I do enjoy people-particularly country singers.
Hope everyone is having a lovely three day weekend! Gotta love Mr Martin Luther King Jr for giving us a break from Monday classes.

5 things (but really 6)

In the hectic atmosphere of the week, my five things list is a little late. Here we go:
1. It is snowing! Finally, for the first time this year, we're getting a really good snow. It's been snowing all day and I love it. Plus that means lots of powder in the mountains.

2. In a few hours I will be heading up to Breckenridge ski resort where my and two other families have rented a huge house and will be spending the weekend up there. Helmets for safety!

3. After approximately two weeks of strictly keeping myself from picking at or cutting my nails, they have finally grown out. This is the longest theyve been since I was about five.

4. While in Santa Barbara a few days ago, there happened to be a Juicy Couture Store, and of course, I could not resist going in and checking out the merchandise. Well just my luck that a bracelet I've been eyeing for months is not only on sale, but they're having a special of 50% off of all sale items. So this bracelet, originally around $100 is all mine for only $35!

5. All my new Anthro clothes! Like I talked about here I went shopping with my mom a couple weeks ago and picked out what I wanted. So excited to wear these. (Will post about these soon) Here's a sneak peak:

 6. I do not hate people, they're quite alright!
